90+ Points, Value Prices!

In this section we will focus on wines that earned 90 points or more in major publications. In addition to earning 90 points plus they also will cost less than $20.  Every couple of weeks we will pick 2 different 90 pointers you can purchase here at Princeton's.

Ah,it seems summer is finally ready to peek its head out around here.  For me, summer means bbq's and white wine.  My favorite white wine in the summer is Sauv Blanc.  Even better? New Zealand Sauv Blanc. It is like biting in to a delicious grapefruit, but with a kick. So we will take a look at two New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Now, some of you might recognize these and say "Hey, you have already talked about these." That may be true, but these are new vintages, that got great scores.  Which shows you the value and consistency of New Zealand Sauv Blanc.  So here they are Kim Crawford 2006 Sauv Blanc and Drylands 2006 Sauv Blanc.

Drylands Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2006 91 points and only $12.99!!! OK, so this might be my personal favorite Sauv Blanc that we have.  I fell in love with it when it cost $17.99, now that is it only $12.99, what more can be said. Wine Spectator's notes say "Exuberantly fragrant, bursting with luscious gooseberry, passion fruit, grass and grapefruit flavors. Concentrated, almost oily, with lingering citrus tanginess and mineral nuances." With that they give it a 91. Enjoy on its own, or any shellfish.

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2006 92 points and only $16.95!!! Kim Crawford is one of the biggest names in the New Zealand Sauv Blanc realm, consistently getting rave reviews, even making the top 100 a few years back. Wine Spectators notes on the 2006 say "Concentrated and complex, with vivid passion fruit, grapefruit and tangy peach flavors. Vibrant minerality and tangy lime juice acidity keep thumping through the finish." With that they give it 92 points.  Enjoy on its own or with shellfish.
